Why the money is still waiting

Counties usually mail a notice to the address on file, which is often the property that was sold. Many people have moved before that notice arrives, so the money sits with the county.

We search public records across Ohio, find the people this money belongs to, and handle the research, the forms, and the follow-up so it actually reaches them.

We share the exact amount and source in person, after confirming who you are, so we are never discussing someone's money with the wrong person.

Where this money comes from

Every dollar we help recover is already on public record. Here is what we look for, and who holds it.

Surplus from sheriff's and foreclosure sales
After a foreclosure sale in Ohio, money is sometimes left over that belongs to the former owner. The court or the county holds it in their name.

Surplus from tax foreclosure sales
When a property is sold over unpaid taxes, there is sometimes money left for the former owner, held by the county. It is not available forever.

Money owed to families of owners who have passed away
If the former owner has died, the money can go to their family. The probate court has a say in who may collect it, and we walk families through that.

How it works

Five steps from public record to your mailbox.

  1. Found

    We find money held for you in county or state public records.

  2. Verified

    We confirm you are the right person before sharing details. We only discuss specifics with the owner or their legal representative.

  3. Signed

    We meet with you in person. You see the amount, the source, and our fee in writing before anything is signed.

  4. Filed

    Where the county allows it, we file the claim and follow up. Where a court request is required, the owner files it and we point you to the county's instructions.

  5. Paid

    The government office issues the payment. Only then is our fee due.

Is this a scam?
It is smart to ask. We never ask for money upfront, and you pay nothing unless you are paid. Everything we find is public record, and we show you exactly where the money is held before you sign anything.
How did you find me?
Through public records: county sale records, court dockets, and published unclaimed funds lists, along with standard address searches to reach you at your current address.
Why haven't I heard about this money before?

What if the owner has passed away?
The money may belong to the estate or the heirs. Usually the probate court must appoint someone to act for the estate first. We explain what is needed so your family knows the next step.
